5 Days of Art

Last week, I was in Slavonice a small town in the southern Czech region (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Slavonice).

The purpose of the trip was to complete an optional subject in drawing and painting. The main objective was to study perspective in art by doing 3 paintings and 6 drawings of architecture or trees and landscape.

I never imagined that I would be in a small European town painting and drawing architecture. I learned a lot of things during that week. For one thing, talent can only take you so far, if you want to go the extra mile learn the tricks of the trade and if you want to reach the sky break the rules.

Just Drawing

I will be starting volunteer work in February and my supervisor requested me to draw a picture for her. I can't remember the last time I drew or painted a picture. All I ever illustrate nowadays are clothes.

I recently got Adobe CS5. When I was younger I used to CAD maps for my dad. Now I want to get familiar with illustrating more than just maps. So lately, I have been playing about with Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop.                                                                  Naturally, I had no idea what I was going to draw for my supervisor. I thought I lost my muse.                                                                      At first I drew flowers. It wasn't easy.  I didn't like it. So later in the week I drew another picture of my old pet bunny rabbit, which I gave her on Friday.
After going through this, I think I should make more of an effort to draw something at least once a month so that I don't lose my touch.
